Residents living within the Bards Way Development strongly support protecting the future of the playpark and greenspace and welcome investment being made in the playpark that would see it restored to the high standard that it once was and become a facility that every child living within the local community can enjoy for many years to come. However, residents are unanimously opposed to losing any valuable greenspace at the expense of speculative property development.
SOME OF THE COMMENTS MADE BY RESIDENTS
Every built-up area requires a balance of outdoor greenspace. Increase in traffic also a concern.
We used the playpark on a regular basis with our grandchildren until it fell into disrepair and considered unsafe. We also have concerns of the volume of traffic in Bards Way if planning permission is granted to developing more houses.
Not enough greenspace so please do not take it away.
We do want to protect our greenspace here and elsewhere. We feel that allowing a Section 75 to be "ripped up" brings into question the integrity of planning throughout Scotland.
We believe the proposal that has been unveiled by one speculative property developer is a trojan horse that is being used in an attempt to have the Section 75 Agreement modified so that the Council will award planning permission for a house. We welcome investment being made in the playpark, but not on condition that a speculative developer gets planning permission to build a house on greenspace.
Concern over loss of space for kids playing and walking dogs. Danger caused by construction vehicles being in the area.
Playpark future is essential for health of kids. The other areas are important greenspace and biodiversity areas. I am against building on them and concerned about impact on watercourse and surface water flood risk.
We are concerned and very upset that we are in this position which was caused by inaction from the Council. The greenspace we have left is vital to health of this community and the children in it. The Council must now be proactive in protecting this environment.
Playparks and greenspaces are so important for mental health and wellbeing of all residents. Children need more greenspaces so they can be nurtured.
We have recently moved into the area. We were attracted to the development by the openness of greenspace. If plots remain in private ownership we are concerned by the risk to life, limb and property that large trees cause. Do the owners have Public Liability Insurance? The same applies to the playpark.
The playpark and in particular the greenspaces are very important to the quality of life and mental wellbeing of the residents and of the nearby community.
When this development - originally called Bards Lea- was planned, the greenspaces were promoted as AMEINITY areas for the use of home owners and as such was an important selling point. My family and dogs have made great use of the greenspace.
We need more green space not less.
In the future we would prefer to keep all of our greenspace and playpark.
Fully support the campaign to protect the greenspaces and would be very much against the building of properties on these plots.
